Senior Bookkeeper (Australian Accounting)

We are Roger, a specialist hospitality and restaurant accounting firm. We support restaurants, cafes, bars and hospitality operators with bookkeeping, payroll, supplier administration, accounts payable, reconciliations and reporting. We also provide clients with weekly P&L dashboards, budget vs actual reporting, expense breakdowns, KPI trends and GST visibility.

We are looking for a Senior Bookkeeper with at least 5 years of Australian bookkeeping or accounting experience. You must be very strong in Xero and comfortable using (or learning) Hubdoc daily.

This is not a junior role. We need someone accurate, reliable, responsive and confident working across multiple clients in a high-volume environment.

Key responsibilities

Reconcile bank feeds, credit cards, merchant facilities and payment platforms in Xero
Process supplier invoices daily through Hubdoc
Match bills, payments and receipts accurately
Investigate unreconciled items, duplicate entries and missing documents
Maintain accurate accounts payable records and supplier balances
Prepare clean, up-to-date Xero files for weekly reporting, BAS and month-end review
Prepare weekly accounts payable batch files
Complete weekly supplier statement reconciliations
Process payroll and complete payroll checks
Support weekly reporting and month-end close
Creating workflows which will be followed by future bookkeepers

Must-have requirements

Minimum 5 years of Australian bookkeeping or accounting experience
Strong Xero experience
BAS-ready bookkeeping experience
High attention to detail
Strong written English
Able to clean up messy files and identify errors quickly

Role details

Part-time role, currently 20 hours per week
Working hours: 10:00am to 2:00pm Philippines time
As we win additional clients, hours will increase by 5 hours per week per client
We expect this role to become full-time by July 2026
This role is intended to grow into a Bookkeeping Team Leader position managing junior bookkeepers

Who would suit this role
You have worked in Australian bookkeeping for several years, know Xero very well, understand reconciliations and accounts payable deeply, and can take ownership of your work without being micromanaged.
