Technical Door Specialist

This role sits between our sales, takeoff/estimating, CAD, purchasing, and shop-floor teams to make sure every custom door package is accurate, complete, and ready for production. You'll review project documents, catch inconsistencies before they become costly mistakes, and keep information organized across multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Review project documents (plans, door schedules, specs, quotes, CAD drawings) to catch missing, conflicting, or unclear information — e.g., mismatched door sizes, unclear swing/handing, incompatible hardware, unavailable products
Coordinate with takeoff/estimating to confirm quantities, assumptions, and that quotes match project specs
Work with the CAD team to review drawings for accuracy, confirm sizes/panel layouts/hardware locations, and track drawing versions/approvals
Source door slabs, hardware, and materials by comparing customer specs against what's available, compatible, and cost-effective
Prepare bills of materials with complete specs (sizes, species, jamb/casing, hardware, machining notes, lead times) for purchasing and production
Communicate with suppliers, builders, and internal teams, asking clear, specific questions to resolve open items
Track open questions, approvals, and revisions so decisions are documented and everyone works from current information
Support the shop floor by confirming approved drawings, ordered hardware, and production readiness
Required Skills & Experience
Construction documentation, architectural plans, or millwork
Doors, frames, hardware, cabinetry, or joinery
Technical estimating or construction takeoffs
Selling or door takeoffs
Manufacturing, supplier, or purchasing/ordering coordination
Order entry
Bill of materials preparation
Project coordination in construction or manufacturing

You don't need experience in every area, but you must learn technical product details quickly.

Required Abilities
Read and interpret construction drawings; work confidently with US (imperial) measurements
Compare information across multiple documents and spot discrepancies
Communicate clearly in written English and ask good clarifying questions
Stay organized and follow up consistently across multiple projects
Work independently after training; handle detail without rushing
Nice-to-Have
AutoCAD/drafting/Bluebeam experience · door schedules · high-end residential millwork · supplier portals/configurators · US-based construction/manufacturing experience · night shift or US time zone overlap
